The wonderful San Vincenzo al Volturno Abbey is one of the most quaint monastic installation of Molise.

Established in 703 AD by 3 princes of Benevento, the old city extended for 6 hectares and gave hospitality to 8 churches and about ten buildings. It was an important religious and administrative centre and its history is documented in the “Chronico Volturnense”.

Situated at the feet of the mountatin range “le Mainarde”, the abbey is a convent of benedictine nuns, devoted to the rule of “ora et labora”, prayers and job.

Their devotion to prayer and to the respect of the inner oganization of the convent help this place to be an important destination for tourists and religiouses.
